Dawn Connolly/Sailor Eos - E1, E2, E3, and beyond

Main Character Information

Name: Dawn Therese Connolly
Age: 17 (Guardian of the Rabbit); 18 (Darkwing and Eos)
Birthday: October 26th

Family Members: Jack and Maggie Connolly. Her father is a project manager in one of the engineering departments at the Toyota plant in Georgetown, Kentucky. Her mother is a middle school substitute teacher with the Fayette County public school system. Both live near downtown Lexington, Kentucky, in a historic district overgrown with trees that shares property with the University of Kentucky arboretum.

Physical Description: Dawn stands about five feet, seven inches (171 cm) tall, with a somewhat curvy figure that's been adequately toned through eight years of competitive swimming. Hourglass is an adequate description. she's comfortable with her figure and enjoys wearing clothes that show off her ample upper body. Her hair is a rich brown streaked with natural red highlights, and she wears it in long layers about her face, the rest falling halfway down her back. Dawn's eyes are brown as well and change color slightly depending upon her disposition, from dark hazel to chocolate. She has a very pale complexion, with freckles that show up in lieu of a tan. Needless to say, she's a firm believer in sunscreen. By US clothing standards, she's usually sporting jeans in a size 12 that hang on her hips. She prefers to wear denim and sleeveless shirts, and she prefers sandals or boots over sneakers. At the same time, she's known to lust after leather skirts and knee high boots. just because they'd look really cool. Dawn has a pair of silver hoop earrings that she almost never takes out, and doesn't usually wear jewelry otherwise. Tattoos or other piercings? Unlikely, as she has an unnatural fear of needles.

Emotional Description: Dawn is fairly complex, often projecting one image of herself in order to hide her own insecurities and self-doubt. She's spent most of her younger years on her own, having few friends and immersing herself in a select few activities and interests. Her loyalty is unwavering; she is fiercely passionate when it comes to her small circle of friends and will stop at nothing to protect them. In this respect, she can be quite brash, speaking before she thinks things through and charging ahead without really knowing where she's going. She possesses a stubborn streak of independence; while she's more than happy to have others depend upon her, she isn't always comfortable with the reverse situation. It's not a question of trust; rather, it's a question of not wanting to be a burden. She is honest and genuine in her actions and words, a trait with which others are often uncomfortable. Dawn is animated in her speech and actions, and can be quite flirtatious when the situation warrants. When around her friends, she is playful and displays a uniquely twisted and often perverse sense of humor. She'll be the first to break a tense situation with a joke, and her sarcasm can hide her worries when trouble arises.

Hobbies: Swimming and reading military novels (she's read through The Hunt for Red October at least ten times), as well as listening to a wide variety of music. She loves Kevin Smith movies (such as Clerks, Chasing Amy, etc.) and when boredom strikes at home, she might curl up to watch a flick.

Friends: She and Minako met when Dawn lived in Tokyo during high school. She didn't have any other good friends when she moved back to the States, and dated infrequently.

In Darkwing and Eos, Dawn considers Lita and Mina close friends, and she's getting to know Rini pretty quickly. She's not quite sure where Ian fits into the whole equation; she's definitely attracted to him (for some bizarre reason that she can't figure out, for the life of her) but since she hasn't seen any similar sign from him, she'll just keep it at friends for now. unless, of course, he ever said anything.

School: At the beginning of Guardian of the Rabbit, Dawn is enrolled at Woodyard High in Lexington, Kentucky. She's not a straight A, 4.0 student like Ami; however, she is exceptionally good when it comes to math and physical sciences. She's a member of the fairly successful swim team, but she's not all that close to anyone at the school. Truth be told, she misses her friends from Tokyo, especially Minako.

Note: For those interested in writing more with this storyline (the direct descendant of the NGSM legacy) it wouldn't be unlikely for Dawn to return to Tokyo at some point without her parents due to her love of the city and her newfound identity as Sailor Eos.

In the Darkwing and Eos series, Dawn is a freshman at the University of Tokyo. She took enough advanced placement classes in high school to warrant a scholarship through Toyota (which is where her father works) so that she could study mechanical engineering.

Her weak points are chemistry, biology, and economics. Unlike many engineering majors, she has excellent writing skills and can explain most technical processes in layman's terms. Essentially, she's adept at working through processes, but she could do far better if she bothered to study more.

Likes:
Diet Coke and Coffee: (not together, of course) Dawn is an admitted caffeine addict. She appreciates a good cup of coffee from anywhere but Starbucks (she prefers the local mom and pop corner stores) and keeps her fridge stocked with Diet Coke. If neither are available. water. Diet Pepsi, in her words, is swill.
Basketball and football: Watching it, that is. She adores her Kentucky Wildcats and will stay up to watch games no matter the hour. which, when you're in Tokyo, can lead to some bizarre TV habits. She gets really vocal, too.
Swimming: Dawn is a talented swimmer whose best events include the 50m and 100m freestyle, as well as the 200 m freestyle relay. She can do other strokes, but excels in the aforementioned events. She's been swimming for several years, and sees the pool as a means of stress relief as well as physical fitness.
Music: She's a music junkie of sorts, willing to listen to almost everything at least once. Her favorites are harder old-school rock and metal bands (Guns n' Roses, Kiss, Metallica, to name a few) and the past wave of serious female singer-songwriters (Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow). And, um. never deprive her of her Aerosmith collection. She's just a bit possessive. Another thing. while she'd never admit it in public, she has a soft spot for Garth Brooks. Growing up, it was the only bit of her mother's music that didn't make her run screaming, and it reminds her of home. Still, the Greatest Hits album is well-hidden among her CD collection.

Dislikes:
Being Underestimated: Nothing annoys her more than having someone assume without fact that Dawn is unable to do something. She'll go out of her way to prove that person wrong, and do it with a vengeance.
Seeing her friends attacked: Say or do something to Dawn, and she'll either mouth off or simply ignore you. Try the same thing with a friend of hers, and she's a fury of witty insults and possibly fists.
Sushi: If she wants to eat something that was once alive, it must be thoroughly cooked, hot, and dead. Completely. Sushi's just. ew.

Love Interest: Dawn is somewhat wary of opening herself up to someone on such an intimate level. Her honesty often scares people away, so she flirts shamelessly so that people think her true feelings are merely playful antics. When she does fall for someone, she falls really hard and will hurt for some time if her feelings are not requited. She won't take it out on that person, though. unless they've intentionally hurt her. At that point, all bets are off. In both stories on dawningsky.com, Dawn has yet to have a long-term boyfriend. Xan was, well. not necessarily the best of choices. As for Ian, she likes him enough to consider something more than friendship, but he's not interested... yet... if he'll ever be. One last note. she's still a virgin at 18. She'll flirt and play, but it would take someone pretty special to get beyond all of her walls and barriers to the point where she'd trust him enough to get between the sheets.

Senshi Information

Name: Sailor Eos, the Guardian
Symbol: the dawning sky

Warrior Physical Description: Eos' fuku is somewhat different from the all-purpose Senshi ensemble. No collars or bows, the only similarity is the pleated skirt and the accessories. Her sleeveless top is a snug silver gray edged in deep purple with a cutout over her cleavage. The top ends just above her navel, and the French collar fastens with two silver buttons. The skirt is the same deep purple as the accents on the top, and is slightly shorter than the standard Sailor skirt. Eos' boots are black edged in purple and have a slight heel to them. Black sleeveless gloves reach to her elbows, and an opal is embedded in her tiara.

Transformation: "Dawning Sky Power, Make Up!" Both hands above her head summon a deep lavender orb that drops down, encasing her in a cocoon of light. Her silhouette is visible as swirls of rose and lavender race about the outside of the light, finally fading to reveal her Sailor form.

Powers:
Daybreak Reflection: Her only true attack, Eos has the ability to absorb, mirror, and redirect any attack. Once she has absorbed the energies forced upon her, Eos brings both hands to her chest, concentrating the energies and redirecting them at her target. The subsequent retaliation is encased in a blinding white and lavender light, and bears all properties of the original attack.
Twilight Serenade: An attack carried out with Sailor Chibimoon. Eos' bond with the Princess allows her to channel that unique energy and release it in an omnidirectional burst not unlike a sonic boom. A pale pink mist gathers around her and Sailor Chibimoon and spreads outward, the shock wave causing glass to shatter and friend or foe to fall to the ground within a ten meter radius.
*note on Eos' powers*
In Guardian of the Rabbit, Eos uses two attacks that aren't listed here. Why aren't they included? Well. I wanted to keep her as a purely defensive Senshi. Besides, "Daybreak Reflection" just sounded better than "Rising Sun Illumination" in terms of her reflected attack. Now. that's not to say that she couldn't be given additional attacks or abilities somewhere down the road. ^_^

Strengths: Aside from her defensive abilities, she is resourceful and very good at problem solving. Dedicated, loyal, and quick on her feet, she makes a perfect companion in a tight situation. She's also fairly adept with a first aid kit, and can hold her own in a fistfight. She's more likely to punch than kick, and she's not going to kick a guy between the legs unless it's the only way out. At the same time, she won't usually attack girls since they tend to whine and squeal a lot. Girls get slapped and shoved to the side; guys and stronger opponents get the full effect of her attack.

Weaknesses: She's very brash, so she often forgets about her own vulnerability when trying to protect someone. In addition, she often mistakes cockiness for courage. She has a tendency to hold in her emotions so as not to worry or upset others around her, which may lead to complete eruptions of tears or temper at inopportune moments. In addition, she does not possess the normal healing abilities of those Senshi who harbor starseeds. so, while she can hand out the pain, she needs time to recover like any normal human being.
