Name: Aneiko Tenmouno
Nickname(s): You can try, but she won't respond to anything but Aneiko.
Sex: Female
Age: 6
Birthday: July 3rd. Cancer/Virgo/Cancer, for those keeping score.
Lives Where?: Boarding House
Family Members: Her mother is Mitsukai Tenmouno, the lead Senshi sent to 2021 Tokyo in the wake of the Kuraijin threat. She regards Sa'dia as a sort of big sister figure. She does not know (nor does she care to be informed of) her father.
Round faced with cheeks that would put a cherub to shame, Aneiko appears to be one of the most darling children you could ever hope to come across. if only she bothered to smile more often. Two pools of cerulean blue peek out from under a heavy fringe of jet-black bangs, and those eyes regard the world with a cautious and often distrustful glance. Her hair is usually worn with the sides pulled up into two tails, one on either side of the top of her head. She has an affinity for white ribbons, so two small bows are usually affixed in her hair. Aneiko prefers pants, shorts, overalls. anything but dresses. She even told her mother once that if she had to grow up to be a Senshi, she'd go to the Queen herself and make sure that she could have a fuku with pants so she wouldn't wear a "stupid girly skirt." Her sneakers are white with a bright red stripe around the base; they're her first 21st century possession, so she wants to wear them everywhere. She's a little kid, so cleanliness isn't top on her priority list. dirt just tends to stick like that.
Reading (she has a preference for dark fairy tales) and watching people (especially during training)... transformations, to be specific. Asking questions, while not a typical hobby, is also a favorite pastime.
Aneiko doesn't make friends often, but once she finds someone she likes, that person has earned a friend for life. She loves Sa'dia like a big sister, and will run to her for comfort when she's unable to find Mitsu. She knows Uno from her time spent at the Academy, and she would follow the man everywhere if her mother would let her. She has met Koré at the Boarding House and likes her immensely, most likely due to Koré's experience with her own daughter. Aneiko has met Kin and, while she understands that he has problems that have yet to be resolved, she adores him for his gentle attitude and the fact he has a kitten. She's somewhat wary of the rest of the Boarding House inhabitants, but that could change as she becomes better acquainted with them.
Aneiko seems too somber for your average six year old child. A little too quiet, a little too serious, and ever aware of her surroundings, she has inherited her mother's analytical nature. She also has a vivid imagination, and has been known to tell stories to her mother about seemingly bizarre and far-away lands. Despite her imagination, she takes most things quite literally. Aneiko has an uncharacteristically dry sense of humor, and she enjoys shocking people with offhanded and witty remarks.
Most people, upon meeting her, would assume that Aneiko is rather shy. In truth, Aneiko has little problem with people in general, and can be quite affectionate and playful when she warms up to someone. This can take a while, as she will scrutinize unfamiliar people and places until she reaches a certain level of comfort. At the same time, she can be cold and aloof with people who strike her as troubling or requiring further investigation on her part. She is not fond of crowds of people where most of them are strangers; at the same time, a group of familiar faces can change her into quite the social butterfly.
Aneiko is comfortable with the knowledge that Mitsukai is her only parent. Since Mitsu lavished the little girl with near-constant attention and overwhelming affection (some might have considered it smothering), Aneiko didn't realize that there could have been something missing. While she knows now that she doesn't have a father, she doesn't seem to want to know why... but if anyone asks her about her father, Aneiko will reply that she gives her mother all of her love that she'd otherwise have to share with another person. Additional queries have been met with silence, as she refuses to deal with other people's ideas about her little family. Aneiko regards Sa'dia as a sort of big sister, relying upon her when Mitsu isn't around.
Aneiko has a rag doll that she takes with her almost everywhere. She and her mother have had a rather nomadic lifestyle, so her doll is her only "real" possession. She calls the doll Nini, and is rarely without it.
Aneiko. This is Nini. *holds up rag doll* She doesn't say a lot, but she likes to hear stories. I read her stories sometimes, and Momma reads to us at night. If you want, I can make up a story for you, too. I'm good at that...
Momma? She's a Senshi who teaches other people how to be Senshi. She's in charge of the house here. We used to live in a little apartment near the Academy where Momma worked, but we just moved here, and Sa'dia even got to come with us. There are some really nice people at the house, like Koré-sama. Did you know she used to be a real live rock star? I met a really really nice boy who works with Dr. Rani, but I don't think he feels well. Momma's been trying to help him get better, and I think that when I give him happy hugs, that helps, too.
My daddy? My momma's all I need.
Kuraijin? I don't know what that is.
You ask a lot of questions... maybe I should ask you some now.
In the early morning of June 28th, panic ensued in the military hospital maternity ward when Mitsukai gave birth to her daughter. Everything had progressed so quickly, it had been necessary to airlift the young woman to the hospital in order to save time. Less than an hour after arriving, Mitsukai gave birth to an almost-eight pound baby girl named Aneiko. As the child let out her first cry, a pair of pale grey wings emerged from her shoulder blades, terrifying the attending doctor who hadn't been informed of the mother's Senshi nature. The wings disappeared as the newborn was placed in her mother's arms, quieting almost instantly. All of the "regular" neonatal tests being normal, Mitsukai emphatically refused to have Aneiko tested for latent Senshi abilities. A few days later, the pair left the military hospital, taking up residence in modest quarters not far from the training Academy.
Aneiko's first years were, for the most part, without incident. The same pale grey wings would emerge in times of extreme fright or pain, and would always go away as Aneiko was soothed. Once Mitsu began teaching at the Academy, Aneiko became a regular fixture in her mother's classroom. The toddler would sit in a chair or crawl about on the floor as Mitsu instructed the new groups of Senshi in battle techniques and control over their varied abilities. Aneiko particularly enjoyed watching each of her mother's students transform (or "go Senshi" as she put it one day at the tender age of 2 years), often applauding and squealing with glee. Once Aneiko required a little more constant supervision, Mitsu employed the help of Sa'dia to entertain her daughter for part of the day during more rigorous training.
Aneiko turned six the day that the Battle of the Portal began, and ended. While her mother went to Terra as a field commander for Queen Hyourin's army, Aneiko and Sa'dia remained on the moon under military guard. The pair spent the day reading in one of the Palace's libraries, unaware of what was taking place between the Kuraijin and the Senshi. Aneiko was awakened in the wee hours of the morning by her mother, who simply sat and held the little girl until dawn. Days later, she accompanied her mother to 21st century Tokyo, unaware of the actual mission but knowing that something serious had happened and that her mother has something to do with making it right again.
Transformation: Most of the time, Aneiko is only able to transform under extreme pain or fear. This usually involves the emergence of a pair of soft grey wings from her shoulder blades that extend to a span of 1.5 meters. When she is able to control the transformation, her form is bathed in a deep grey shadow, wings extending outward from the silhouette. The shadow breaks over her body, being absorbed into the tips of her wings.
Warrior Physical Description: When a controlled transformation occurs, Aneiko's clothing is replaced by a sleeveless robe of silver that covers her to her bare feet.
Shadow Guardian (ability/defense): In winged form, Aneiko is able to reflect magic attacks that are inflicted upon her, with the following hit allowances and effects:
The first hit will require at least 2 hours to return to full ability, and she will be very fatigued until then. A second hit will require 12 hours rest to return to full ability, and a third hit will require 1 hour of treatment in the ReGen stasis tanks within 24 hours of the attack and 24 hours of rest afterwards, or 36 hours of uninterrupted rest. The fatigue that Aneiko experiences can be likened to a child getting over a case of the flu.
Shadow Clap (attack): In winged form, Aneiko can send short bursts of shadow (i.e. pockets of space where light doesn't exist) if she is partially standing in a shadowed area by simply clapping her hands. The burst is small, a .25m radius sphere that travels at a rate of 1 m/s. She may do this once an hour, with the attack leaving her fingers and hands slightly numb. Doing it twice in an hour causes a "shadow burn," an effect not unlike frostbite, over her skin for up to two hours. Those targets encountering the sphere will experience the shadow burn as well. The sphere can only travel a distance of 5 m, and is immediately dissipated in the presence of bright light. It can be blocked by magic, is reduced in strength by water or fire, and is completely blocked by nonporous surfaces.
Mindtouch (civilian ability): If she so desires, Aneiko can tune into a person's emotions, either by coming into skin-to-skin contact with them, or being able to look the person directly in the eyes for a period of ten seconds. She cannot read thoughts, merely the overall feeling (content, anxious, frightened, angry, etc.). Only a person able to actively shield him or herself can avoid this ability, and the better acquainted she is with a person, the more keenly she can attune herself to the emotion.
Fighting Style: She's barely trained, so she doesn't fight unless to defend herself. Running and finding someone is her general modus operandi.
Items: Nini, her ragdoll.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Aneiko's weaknesses far outweigh her strengths. She's young, inexperienced, unpracticed, and unfamiliar with the theatre of war. At the same time, she is incredibly observant and a quick learner. Her mindtouch ability is her strongest asset, as she can read people and assess their threat level in a relatively short amount of time.
Ways of Getting Your Ass Beaten: She's 6, for crying out loud. Overpower her, kidnap her, get her alone, or distract whoever is protecting her. Real easy.
